Challenge

Touchline Photo started out as a sports photo agency, but has now grown into one of the leading suppliers of digital stock photography in the country. This truly dynamic team needed a solution to match their conceptual ideas, excellent customer service & growing business demands. They had inherited a solution from their head office which was giving them the following problems:

Image corruption & duplication
Mixing up of different image resolution types in the client interface
Date selection criteria not working correctly
Online ordering problems for retainer clients
Watermarking of images for non-retainer clients
Control client access to specific images
Sorting of images by date back to front
Auditing of downloads by retainer clients
Ability to hide images and associate them by retainer client

Solution

We proposed, speced and built an archive which could handle all their image requirements efficiently and correctly. Administration requirements were firmly placed in the hands of the Touchline Photo staff through an administration tool. We also provided them with a new hosting and maintenance support service.

The Phase Solution consisted of:

Web Server: Apache
Database: MYSQL
Middleware: Open LDAP (slapd, slurpd)

Results

After four years of working closely with the Touchline team and many enhancements later, we have developed an image archive which meets their requirements exactly. Further more, since the initial brief, we have built a billing system through which they can keep track of their orders.
